Can I Share Virtual Try-On Results With Friends?
Yes — VTS lets you share your virtual try-on images directly to Instagram, WhatsApp, and any social platform from the widget. Here is how it works and why it matters.
Getting a second opinion before buying clothes is one of the most natural shopping behaviours in the world. You text a photo to a friend, share it in a group chat, or show your partner before committing.
Virtual try-on makes this easier than it has ever been — and more useful, because instead of sharing a photo of a model wearing the garment, you share a photo of yourself wearing it.
Yes — You Can Share Directly From the Widget
VTS includes direct social sharing from the try-on widget. After generating your virtual try-on image, you can share it instantly to:
- Instagram — Stories, feed posts, or direct messages
- WhatsApp — Individual chats or groups
- Facebook — Feed or Messenger
- Any platform — Download the image and share anywhere
No screenshots required. No saving to camera roll and then opening another app. The share button is built directly into the widget, available immediately after your try-on image is generated.
Why This Is More Useful Than Sharing a Product Photo
When you share a standard product photo with a friend, they see a model — someone who is not you, with a different body shape, different height, different proportions. Their feedback is based on how the garment looks on someone else.
When you share a VTS virtual try-on image, your friend sees you in the garment. They can give you accurate feedback because they know what you look like and can see how the specific garment works on your specific body.
This changes the quality of the second opinion entirely. "That looks great on you" means something real when it is actually you in the photo.
The Social Media Angle for Merchants
For Shopify merchants using VTS, the social sharing feature is an organic marketing engine.
Every time a shopper shares their try-on image to Instagram or WhatsApp, they are showing VTS-powered content — your product on a real person's body — to their network. Friends who see the image and ask "where is that from?" are warm leads who already know how the garment looks on a real person.
VTS merchants consistently report increases in user-generated content after installing the app. Shoppers who would never post a standard product photo will share a try-on image because it is personal and novel.
Privacy and Shared Images
The images shoppers generate are theirs to share or not share as they choose. VTS does not use shopper images for any purpose beyond generating the try-on result. Photos used for body scanning are deleted within one hour of processing.
The generated try-on image — the output showing the shopper in the garment — can be saved and shared by the shopper. This image does not contain the original photos used for body scanning.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I share to TikTok?
You can download the try-on image and upload it to TikTok manually. Direct TikTok integration is on the product roadmap.
Can I share my fit heatmap as well as the try-on image?
Currently the sharing feature covers the try-on image. The fit heatmap is displayed within the widget for the shopper's reference but is not included in the shareable output.
What format is the shared image?
VTS generates high-quality images suitable for social media sharing. The format is standard JPEG compatible with all major platforms.
Can merchants see which products are being shared most?
Yes. The VTS merchant analytics dashboard includes data on try-on activity and social sharing by product, giving merchants visibility into which items generate the most organic social content.
